Chattanooga Artists Reserve Showcases Local Talent
June 27 event features 15 Chattanooga-based arts favorites
Chattanooga, Tenn. - The second annual Chattanooga Artists Reserve on Saturday, June 27 at Gannon Art Center features works by 15 local artisans, with mediums including paint, fiber, jewelry, soap and mixed media.
The noon – 7 p.m. event brings together a diverse cross-section of the Chattanooga arts community and is the brainchild of artists Beth Gumnick and Tobi Weldon. The pair’s first Reserve hosted last summer at Gumnick’s home drew such a positive response that they decided to bring it to a public forum this year.
“Our intent is to celebrate the creativity of our fellow Chattanooga artists and allow the community access to original works, including some created specifically for the show,” said Gumnick.
Gumnick and Weldon have created a sideshow theme for the Reserve that complements the mix of edgy, playful and one-of-a-kind works featured at the event.
“Our show is intentionally outside the mainstream, so we think the sideshow theme is a fun and fitting way to celebrate the idea of ‘curiosities never before seen by human eye’ in keeping with the unique nature of Reserve works,” said Weldon.
The Gannon Art Center is located at 3250 Brainerd Road near the Comedy Catch. Local arts enthusiasts can learn about the Reserve participating artists at www.chattanoogaartistsreserve.com.
